Rubbish!
We’re only at the start of February and the year has been a little disappointing so far.
I’m going with the Cons first so that I can end on a positive note afterwards.
I had the flu for about two weeks and am still recovering. I still have terrible coughing fits and my right ear is almost constantly blocked but otherwise, I am not too bad. Due to the flu, I had to miss out on the bike club “Christmas” meal a couple of weeks ago.
I found an interesting job listing, something to give me a little bit of money to get by on and was way more easily commutable than my current job. I applied three weeks ago and I am going to assume the lack of response means I didn’t get it. I have a few other ideas, so I’m trying not to be too disheartened.
I still have my two hours plus commute to and from work. It is especially difficult in the winter as there is usually a fair amount of waiting on cold tram and train platforms involved, as well as the mornings and evenings still being so dark.
On to the Pros!
We went for a lovely pre-bike club meet-up at the local Carvery just before I went down with the flu. It was good to catch up with folks as neither of us had been to bike club since the end of October last year.
Later this week we are off to see The Shark Is Broken at The Lowry and I’m hoping to book for To Kill A Mockingbird there. It’s not till next January but I really want to see this adaptation by Aaron Sorkin.
Last week I booked the hotel for International Pop Overthrow Liverpool at the end of May. One of the nights was stupidly expensive. It’s at the start of the event so we’ll just have to commute over if there’s anyone we want to see that day.
The Pros definitely outweigh the Cons so far, and to top it all off despite feeling generally quite low, there is an underlying sense of happiness and contentment which I am still getting used to.
