Yesterday and Today
Yesterday the plan was to get up at a reasonable time and head to MediaCity for a change of scenery. I wanted to visit The Works, The Cadbury shop and M&S Outlet. I also wanted one of the very lovely sausage rolls from the Cafe in the Lowry, but they aren’t open on a Monday.
However, I slept later than planned, and was a mildly achy so I suggested we just nip into town instead. I can get a bit overwhelmed in the Manchester Arndale with the noise and the lights, but figured it was easier to get back from there than MediaCity if I needed to get home sharpish.
I was fine in the Arndale for a change, purchased things of use and things of frivolity. Visited The Works there to get some embroidery stuff and got some inspiration for stocking filler gifts to make over the coming months. Passed Card Factory and spotted they had a Disco Ball plushie in stock so nipped in with great speed to purchase it. His current name is Shiny Boy! I’d been casually checking whether they had any in stock whenever I had passed recently and thought I’d missed my chance, so I am pretty pleased I managed to get one. And yes, the dopamine kick from my small shopping victory was very satisfying. Snack supplies were replenished and sausage rolls purchased from Greggs for lunch. A successful day with no big wibbles of anxiety. I returned home feeling triumphant.
We watched a film and then I prepared the evening meal. There was a lot to do for the cooking and by the time the dish needed putting in the oven my back hurt so much I couldn’t do it. Stuart to the rescue, and again when it was time to reach it out. I confess that by the time the food was read I was quite grumpy as pretty much all of me was achy by then. I was annoyed as there wasn’t really a good reason for it, I hadn’t over done anything.
Last night was a bad one, I couldn’t settle, so there was a long lie in this morning. I’ve tried to rest most of the day but when I’ve needed to move it’s been painful. I am hoping I feel better tomorrow. Today is just a bad day. I’ll try and post something more upbeat tomorrow.
