Definitely Not An Influencer

“Everyone wants to be an influencer these days” No we don’t.

I use social media and have blogs for fun. It’s something to do. I try to share fun stuff like days out, cool places to visit, fab things to see and all that jazz. Sometimes (as you may have noticed) I like to waffle. Nothing is monetised by way of needing interactions or page views. (There are affiliate and other beneficial links they have there own paragraph towards the end.)

I am lucky enough to occasionally get some stuff like CD downloads in advance, or the odd freebie from friends but I don’t ask for them, nor would I be offended if they didn’t offer. I certainly wouldn’t demand it from a stranger’s business. I’ll happily recommend places/events/things I’ve enjoyed because it’s a nice thing to do. I’m not delusional, I don’t have a massive following anywhere, I just like to be nice.

I will promote/mention friends in a heartbeat. I will shout about things I like from the hilltops. Not literally, as I’m social anxious. In these cases the “benefit” I receive is the joy of helping out. The “ads” in the sidebar are all just me promoting friends, no payments change hand.

Now, there are links that I benefit from, affiliate links, promo links etc… But even then I lean towards ones that you benefit from too. And whenever I do post about them I will be honest about how we both benefit. (Also I never post links I don’t believe in or is a trend at the time. If they link to products I have usually tried them and liked them). Not every link to goods I post benefits me, I will just point people at cool things for the heck of it!

The main reason I will never be an influencer, is that I just don’t have the main character energy for it. I mean, it’s taken me several years to write a real About Me page on any of my blogs.

Of course the next few posts are now going to include me whittering on about products I have links for, but honestly, there’s no obligation to even read the blog let alone use the links. If they are of use, then groovy, enjoy. If not then just move along to a another post.
