The ‘Ber Months Have Arrived
Here we are in the last third of the year. I know it’s a cliche but time really does seem to fly by these days.
The days are slowly getting shorter and though there’s always chance of brief run of warm and sunny autumnal days, it’s more likely that it’s just going to be raining a lot from now on.
I can feel hibernation mode setting in. It seems to happen earlier each year. In the past it would only be the winter months that would be shunned when plans were being made, but if I’m honest, I’m ready to become a recluse already. I do have some plans, but I really think I will be reticent to make too many more from now until maybe Spring.
I have started to plan housebound activities to keep me occupied. I took up embroidery fairly recently and am looking up design ideas to stitch, including ones for gifts and Christmas decor. There’s a plain black messenger bag that I have had for several years that could well be getting a colourful embroidery make over. I may also try to do a little more sewing. My skills were always quite basic but as I learn more patience my hand sewing is beginning to improve.
Recently I added a couple of new recipes to the list of meals I am confident to make on a regular basis, so I expect I may be trying to devise some hearty dishes to add to that. I find cooking rewarding when it goes well, but the washing up is a complete drag!
Of course there’s plenty of entertainment to go at over the coming months. We have begun to watch Star Trek Deep Space Nine. It’s a favourite of Stuart’s and I did watch some of it when it was first shown over here, but really don’t remember too many specific episodes (apart from Trials and Tribulations!) With seven seasons to get through, this seems the best time of year to start watching it. There are a few movies stacking up on the “to be watched” pile too. We won’t be short of things to watch, that’s for sure.
This year I may even complete my pathetically low Goodreads Reading Challenge goal. I like the idea of getting the main household chores done and curling up with a blanket and book. I am currently reading Project Hail Mary, and the TBR pile is massive!
