I regularly look through lists of blog post ideas looking for a spark of inspiration, but it does seem like it’s the same old stuff over and over again. It is all aimed at gaining page clicks I guess. As someone who isn’t doing this for money (beyond a few affiliate links that barely earn a penny), I was hoping to stumble across some interesting, non-generic suggestions occasionally. Alas to no avail.
Admittedly when I do these searches I am looking for filler-type ideas to plug posting gaps on this blog so maybe I shouldn’t be so surprised that it is all so bland. There are long periods between days out, events, etc… and I would like to be posting on a more regular basis.
I had a little look at some of the blogs turning up in my search for inspiration and noticed that quite a lot of them had an odd tone about them, something jarring in the writing style. I assume those posts are composed via AI. This is a worrying trend, as I am spotting it creeping into various news and magazine pages too. It may be a fast and easy way to generate content but it removes any feeling or soul from the writing and I suspect no one particularly checks them for the accuracy of the “research”.
I think I’ll stick to generating my content by hand. You’ll almost certainly see the occasional generic filler post here over the year, but that’s because I know regular postings keep people coming back, even if I don’t gain anything financially it’s still nice to build an audience. I just hope you mostly enjoy what you see here and I hope I continue to enjoy creating posts.
