Home Alone

By the time this gets posted on the blog, my other half will be home, but as I type this, he is currently in Spain. I have planned a few Blogtober posts in advance, and this particular one has been scheduled for the future for security.

At the time of writing, I’ve been here on my todd (well, me and the cat) for six days with three more to go. I am not good at being on my own this much. I don’t sleep well as I get jumpy at every noise. I fall out of routine, eat too much and will opt to veg out rather than be productive. I’ve tried to reach a happy medium with the last one, multitasking with a binge-watch while trying to write blog posts.

Over the weekend, there was a storm which rattled the windows a bit and had me fretting that damage might occur, and some other stuff happened where Stuart would have stepped in to deal with things. I am hoping that by the time this posts, I will have done something constructive, such as building some shelves I ordered last week. They are only small units so it should be a doddle.

I have managed to mostly keep on top of the household tasks – washing up, laundry and eating regular meals. However, I have snacked quite a bit too. Trying to curb that for the last few days.

The snacking is a sign of boredom. The evenings are the worst with no one to talk to at bedtime. I like to unload the day before attempting sleep, so usually bend Stuart’s ear with it all. The cat isn’t really a very good listener and prefers to sleep in the front room anyway.

This is the longest I’ve been here on my own so far. I have done the odd weekend, but usually I’ve been at home when Stuart is away on longer trips with our friend calling in to feed the cat for us. Just lately, the cat has been quite clingy so hopefully this has given her a sense of continuity. That said she really does miss her primary human when he’s away. At least this time she’s still eating; the last long weekend away she barely ate a thing.

Anyway, despite a few wibbles, so far I’m pleased with how well I’ve done, and Tilly Cat doesn’t seem to mind the company.
