I Am Not A Domestic Goddess!
Over the last few days (and a few more days – probably weeks – to come) we have been trying to get the house sorted. Things have piled up and got out of hand
Unfortunately, I’m not the most domesticated of people. I try but often fail.
However, this week I set about the task of sorting out the bathroom and the kitchen.
With absolutely no offence intended to my beloved, some things haven’t been cleaned in a while. One of these things was the moulded beading along the tiles in the bathroom. A simple wipe wasn’t sufficient, but my mum had given me the tip of using a toothbrush to clean things like the grouting and any detailed areas with crevices, etc. It worked brilliantly! Don’t worry, it was a spare toothbrush, and I’ve marked it so it’s not accidentally used the way it’s meant to be used. I was pretty pleased with myself when I was done. I couldn’t get the cheap lino as clean as I would have liked and there a few places I couldn’t get to with my floor cleaner, but other than that, it’s not a bad job (for me anyway). I also swapped out the old wooden record boxes I had been using for storing shampoos, body washes, tooth paste etc for a double cube shelf unit. It stores more but is narrower so since it lives on the window ledge it means the room feels a lot lighter.
I have had many attempts on the kitchen but this week I was partically thrilled that slightly rearranging some adjustable shelves gave me more room on the counter top. Lots of stuff was thrownaway, a corner wall shelf finally got sorted and the whole place feels roomier, despite still being the world’s smallest kitchen. The only unfortune thing was discovering that one of the microwaves needs disposing of. The “newer” one is a bit iffy too, but works for now.
There’s still plenty to be done in the other rooms but we’ll get there. And Stuart is pulling his weight, don’t worry about that, it’s just easier to work in seperate rooms, it’s not a very big house.
