The Days Are Growing Shorter

I’m not very good in the winter. I know it’s not quite winter yet, but it’s suddenly colder and thanks to the dismal weather it feels darker than it should.

Mornings are the biggest struggle. If it’s cold and dark it’s so tempting to stay wrapped up in a blanket and not get up. Because of my commute, my alarm is already going off before it begins to get light, and soon it will also be dark when I leave the house for the tram. Eventually, it will only just be getting light as I get to the train station.  Sooner than that my whole journey home will be in the dark.

I lack motivation, it’s a quiet time at work as the tourist numbers dwindle in the winter, and the shop gets pretty cold so I’m achy and uncomfortable all day.

I do my best to counteract the cold at least, I have rechargeable hand warmers and a heated jacket which warms my neck and shoulders.  The darkness is harder to combat. If I could hibernate I almost certainly would.
