Bye-Bye Old Bike, Hello New Bike
All change bike wise for our household.
Back in July, my other half set off on a motorcycle holiday in Devon with his brother; unfortunately, he didn’t quite make it to the hotel. About an hour or so from his destination, his beloved Triumph Sprint ST gasped its last and left him stranded on the side of the road to wait for rescue. It was past midnight when he was finally picked up and taken part of the way home with the bike. After a hotel stay, he travelled home under his own steam as there was no one available to take the bike onwards; it came home a couple of days later.
We both loved the Triumph, but it would cost too much to repair her, and this was one of a myriad things that had been repaired or replaced since she had been bought. The decision was made that this was the end of the road for her.
So, a new bike was on the cards. It had to be something that brought as much joy as the Triumph. The smile on Stuart’s face when he came home after a trip on that bike was always a wonderful sight to see, and to have a bike that wouldn’t give that spark of joy would be a waste of money as far as I could see. There was much deliberation and eventually it came down to three bikes. Test rides were booked and only one came close to the feeling he got from the Triumph.
Being a brand new bike and therefore quite pricey, another sacrifice was required, so we have also said farewell to the Honda CBR which has gone in part exchange towards the deposit for the new wheels.
The whole story plays out in the following three videos from Stuart’s Slorida YouTube channel

For anyone not wishing to watch the videos to find out, he got the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX. She’s quieter than the Triumph and not all that colourful but hopefully she’ll be with us for a few years.
